Sedo is reporting the sale of Linen.com with a first installment payment of $40,000 – the total sale price is unknown at this time. The domain is currently powered by TorreyCommerce which is a SaaS e-commerce provider for high traffic websites and domain names.

Once the total sales price of the domain is announced this post will be  updated.

Interesting thing I noticed today while looking over some recent product domain name sales. Sedo (.xml) and Afternic are reporting the sale of the same domain name: AdhesiveLabels.com for the price of $3,816. The domain name was in Sedo’s Online Retail Auction that I wrote about here and ended on 06/10/2010.

From what I can come up with is that it appears that the domain was a Buydomains.com (RareNames) domain that was sold on Sedo’s platform during the Online Retail Auction – but then why would Afternic also report the sale of the domain name if it didn’t sell on their platform? The title of the Afternic blog post is “Weekly AfternicDLS Sales” which to me means domains sold on AfternicDLS.

Below are some recent product domain name sales as reported by Sedo. As always it’s good to see exact match product name domains being actively sold for solid prices. The domain RoofRack.com was sold during the May 2010 GreatDomains auction and was listed at no reserve.

This has been an interesting week for Sedo sales, more exactly sales not being completed by the domain sellers. Three separate events have been brought to light this week two of them being new the other several months old. Outlined below are details of each:

1. Seven legal domains sold for $200K in early May 2010. The domain seller has defaulted on the deal and has refused to complete the sale. Sounds like legal action will be taken by the winners of the domains in this transaction.

2. A single .co.uk domain was sold for $110K and the buyer is claiming an error and is now backing out of the deal. The winning bidder starting taking legal action against the domain seller.

3. NBC agrees to sell two domains for $1 Million and has backed away from the deal stating it was being blocked by the President of NBC. A lawsuit was filed by the winning bidder in this transaction.

In the first two transactions the domain seller accepted an initial offer for the domain/s agreed again to Sedo’s TOS and pushed the domains to auction. Upon completion of the auction the domain sellers failed to transfer the domain name/s to the winning bidder. The third transaction was an offer made by the buyer which was accepted by the domain seller.

If Sedo has time to comment on issues such as their ethics about a $2,800 domain sale, certainly they can comment about three separate domain transactions involving a total of 10 domains being ’sold’ for more than $1.3 Million.

Slots.com has entered the top ten domain sales of all time when it sold for $5.85 Million to BodogBrands last month and officially announced today. The buyer Calvin Arye had the following to say about the purchase: “The internet really has changed how we do business – I sat on a bar stool in London’s L’Atelier restaurant bidding millions for one of the biggest gaming domains in the world!”

He added: “After Casino.com, we feel that Slots.com is the best gaming domain in the world. Bigger even than Poker.com because there are no strong brands in this space and slots are far more universal than poker. Just look at the amount of space a casino devotes to slots over poker, added to which it’s simple to spell and easy to remember. Slots.com will work for us on a number of levels, not least in generating global traffic to our Bodog branded properties but also to form a number of other targeted websites including one that will be created by and for the female gambler.”

Sedo has just posted the sale of the domain MonaLisa.com for $200,000. The Mona Lisa is one of the most famous pieces of art known worldwide. Several trademarks exist for the term Mona Lisa so maybe the buyer is one of them, congrats to both the buyer and seller.

Interesting to note that todays value of the Mona Lisa painting is estimated to be around $716 Million based on a 1962 assessed value of $100 Million and adjusting for inflation.

DomainFest Ft. Lauderdale wrapped up yesterday with a total of $2,386,550 in domain name sales. Listed below are the product domain names that were sold at the live auction. An extended auction consisting of 700 domain names is taking place online and runs through May 20th, 2010.

The premium domain name Photo.com has sold for $1,250,000 via Moniker as reported here and here. This is another huge sale for 2010 and shows again that .com domains are the cream of the crop. Congrats to both the buyer and seller.
