GoDaddy Auctions has updated a few features over the past couple of days including:

Bid History – Now a cleaner, easier to read window on main pages and individual listings.
Bidding List – A new tabbed view for Watching, Bidding, Won and Didn’t Win domain auctions.

GoDaddy seems to be concentrating more and more on their domain aftermarket product these days which is good for both domain buyers and sellers.

Domain sales are the bread and butter of the domaining industry and the more data for buyers and sellers to see is a good thing. I recently spotted a page on GoDaddy Auctions where they list recent domain name sales in the last 30 days from their auctions and it’s located here. I have no idea if this is a new feature or if it has been around for a while but it’s new to me. As with all domain sales data, there are some interesting things to look at.

GoDaddy Domain Auctions has made some changes over the past couple weeks that include pricing changes for fire sale domains and time extensions when bidding on expiring domain auctions, more details below.

Fire sale (Closeout) domains – now have price points of $9, $8, $7, $6, and $5. Formerly all closeout domain names were priced at just $5.

Bidding time extension – when bidding on expired domains each bid now extends the auction an additional 2 minutes. Formerly an auction was extended an additional 2 minutes only when a bid was placed within the last 2 minutes.

Here are a couple of interesting domains that sold on GoDaddy’s Expiring Auction today: KnockoutEnergyDrink.com for $2,240 and KnockoutEnergy.com $4,025.

Doing some quick searching it looks like a Knockout Energy Drink (Myspace profile link) may have existing at one time in the past or is coming soon, there is no existing trademark. KnockoutEnergy.info was recently registered by “KO Beverages” on 09/15/2009. Who ever the buyer is, hopefully they purchased both product domain names.

With all the discussions about online auctions or fixed prices, GoDaddy’s expiring auction system seems to deliver on a daily basis.
