Google Search Over SSL

Last Friday Google announced searching over SSL at https://www.google.com. This new feature which is good for users in regards to privacy, but not so much for website owners. The reason being is that no referrer (search term) is passed when coming from a link on https as a security measure – meaning that as a website owner you see nothing in your analytics.

Getclicky is calling it the death of search analytics which seems to be true if it was the standard for all Google search users.

Thanks for bringing up subject, no one else has.

Another problem is a secondary search portal for ssl sites. Most e-commerce site are ssl encyrpted…..but most sites aren’t.

So, do you need to do battle in another arena where you should or have to have security license.

meaning, do you lose traffic and customers to a site with ssl ??

will google give more weight over time to sites with ssl?

    lots of questions.
